The simple area of Kozjansko
Kozje is the center of the Kozjansko region and lies in the broader part of the valley of the Bistrica stream. Upstream from Kozje are the villages of Lesično, Zagorje and Planina pri Sevnici. Here a road branches off towards Sevnica. At the foot of Orlica near Podsreda, the Bistrica stream curves eastward towards the Sotla. Dominating Podsreda is a 12th century Romanesque castle preserved in its original form. The hills are named after the settlement of Kozje and are the last in the chain of hills known as the Posavje range. To the southwest the area is bordered by the Bohor ridge (1023m), to the east by the Sotla Valley, along which runs the state border with Croatia, and to the north by Rudnica. At Podsreda the road forks, one route leading westward to Senovo and Krško in the Sava Valley, and another running eastward along the Bistrica River to the Sotla Valley. In the midst of a vast plain lies Bistrica ob Sotli. On the opposite bank, in neighboring Croatia, is Kumrovec. The road and railway run upstream along he Sotla past Imeno to Podčetrtek, downstream to Bizeljsko and in the direction of Brežice. The state border with Croatia runs continuously along the Sotla River, periodically escaping in sharp curves to one bank or the other. Here we are! Now it is up to you to visit this place. And do not forget the other sightseeing in Slovenia. Like Ljubljana, Bled Lake, Bohinj, Postojna Cave, the Cost with Portorož, Piran, Izola, Koper and many more. See you there...
